NIBFA Cup Round 2

Lurgan Town U13 Vs Portadown U13. Big cup tie at home yesterday against their National League side.

On paper this looked like a very difficult tie for our boys against a team that play in a higher league. But football is not played on paper!

Very tight first half it did take a while for our boys to get going. To be fair Portadown had the better of it in the early stages and created some good chances.

However, into the lead we went and from that point the boys settled into the game.

Equaliser came just before the half but Lurgan were on top and this was a sign of things to come in the second half.

Second half saw a superb display from our guys, playing some excellent football and totally dominating the game. It wasn’t long until we re-established our lead.

Two more goals saw us run out worthy 4-1 winners. We were very happy today with the discipline our boys showed and they really focused on their football and ultimately that proved to be the difference.

Goals today from Oli O Tom Oli McR Dillon onto the third round we go and we look forward to testing ourselves against this higher level of opposition.

Thanks to Portadown and we wish them good luck for the rest of the season. Back to the league next week with a home game Vs Ambassadors. The boys are playing Linfield tomorrow in a friendly which will be an excellent test for them.
