Predators v Rathfriland

Saturday morning seen us playing a team that we hadn’t played in a couple of years so the guys were immediately looking forward to it. In our pre-match teamtalk I asked the guys for a quick start in which they duly obliged. 1 nil up straight from the kick off, Fionn to Oscar, Oscar to Noah who slotted the ball into the bottom corner. Easy as 1-2-3. Our 2nd came a few minutes later, another slick passing move ended with a tidy finish from Oscar. Town were completely controlling the game at this point with the Rathfriland keeper pulling off some fantastic saves with one resulting in a Town corner (one of many). Noah took a quick one with Cameron smashing it into the top corner from a very acute angle.

2nd half started again with a quick goal from Oscar & with Rathfriland replying with a couple of goals themselves. Rathfriland then had a good 5 minute spell where Zac pulled off a wonder one handed save which seemed to give us the momentum again & we never looked back. The rest of the game our lads peppered their goal, hitting the post, bar, several excellent saves again from their keeper & Mikey Askew having one cleared off the line. Zak Hegarty moved into centre midfield & rifled a great shot into the bottom corner & Oscar finished the game with another couple of goals.

Another excellent display with Fionn dominant in midfield pulling the strings with Harry & Will composed & very assured at the back.

Goals: Oscar x4, Noah, Cameron, Zak

Vapors v Glenavon

The Vapors this week were up against their close rivals Glenavon Aces in Markethill. Compared to previous weeks the team as a whole started very sluggish with very little chances being created throughout the first half.

After regrouping at halftime, the Vapors upped their game and produced a much improved performance with some great team work and goals. Heads were still held high at the end of the game and smiles all round..

This group of players know what they can achieve when playing as a team. A slight off day today but a much improved 2nd half shows there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

Great goals today from Josiah, Carter and Riley. Keep believing in yourselves and keep up the fighting spirit..

Cobras vs Banbridge Town

Lurgan travelled to Cheney Park to face a Banbridge side who came out on top, on the last meeting between the two teams. Lurgan started the game this time implying that wasn’t going to be the case again, by immediately retrieving the ball from ko and going on an attack only to see their keeper make a fantastic save from a Joshua Hutchinson effort.

It wasn’t long until Lurgan took the lead and it was Joshua Hutchinson doing so from close range. This was closely followed by Illya who got his first goal in Lurgan colours. The lads had the wind in their sails and they piled the pressure on giving Banbridge no room to play, it made for good viewing. Joshua Hall went on a fantastic run down the left wing, cutting back inside he fired a shot low and hard into the bottom of the net, a fantastic solo goal.

Just before the half time whistle Lurgan looked to have taken the game out of reach through Issac and Dawid who both scored from two well taken corners. The second half was now underway and it was back to business for Lurgan, with the goal of the game coming from a long run down the left by Joshua Hall who crossed a high ball into the centre of the box met fantastically by Amir with his head.

A fantastic returning performance from Scott Watson was topped off by a goal that came through some well worked passes to be finished off by Scott. The final few minutes of the game saw the debut off lukas making his name known with two well taken goals to seal the game off.

Lurgan were a joy to watch as I’m sure most of the parents would agree and a result that was well overdue. The lads have seen first hand what hard work and team work can bring them, with every player giving their all, we look forward to the next game.

Goals: Lukas x2, Illya, Dawid, Issac, Amir, Joshua Hall, Joshua Hutchinson, Scott Watson
