U9s Win Portadown Tournament Shield

Today our U9 Predators travelled to Shamrock Park to play in the Portadown Tournament.

Town opened with a very unlucky 1-0 defeat to Cookstown despite having most of the play. In the second game we drew 0-0 with a very organised Springfield Stars side. In the final group game we won 2-1 against the hosts & a very good Portadown side with goals coming from Fionn Wilson & Oscar Philson.

We progressed to the shield semi finals where we met Loughgall Blues. Once again the boys played some great football, having most of the play & coming away with a deserved 1-0 win & progressing to the final.

The final seen the boys taking on Glentoran. We saved our best performance for the final, playing some great football. Taking an early 2 goal lead with both goals coming from Oscar Philson the boys never looked back. They controlled the rest of the game with great composure & maturity & were unlucky not to add to their tally.

A fantastic day in the sun where the boys only conceded 2 goals the whole tournament. Absolutely delighted to come away as Shield winners with that 2-0 defeat of Glentoran with every Town player playing their part fantastically well.

Town squad: Zac Stokes, Zak Hegarty, Will Russell, Fionn Wilson, Daniel Savage, Michael Askew, Oscar Philson, Theo Armstrong, Scott Watson & Cameron Fitzsimmons.
