Strong Start to League Cup

Our 2012/U10 Predators had an impressive start in the MUYL U11 League Cup on Saturday when they played Banbridge Town Panthers on a damp afternoon at Lurgan Town Arena.

After a few tough results in recent weeks, the Lurgan Boys went back to basics and found their form in all areas of the pitch.

Lurgan started off the brighter of the two teams, scoring twice inside the first 10 minutes, with goals from Jamie McKernan and Alfie Meneely.

Two further goals from Lucas Moore, 5 minutes apart made it 4-0, before Cody Greszta made it 5-0 ahead of half time.

The Lurgan Boys made a few changes at during the break but the pressure on the opposition goal continued. Jamie McKernan making great progress down the right hand side, with a superb cross for Noah Hutchinson to score at the back post.

The game tightened up at this point and it wasn’t until 20 minutes later that Eli Hawthorn made it 7-0 with some great movement in the box. A few minutes later, Josiah Hawthorne poked home his first goal of the season to make it 8-0.

The 2012 Predators look forward to next week when they Moira FC U11s in their next League Cup fixture.
