The Under 15 lads took on TTBS on Saturday with the boys having to play in the unusual colour of black. Thankfully this didn’t hamper the boys with an excellent display.
The game started with both teams trying to suss each other out with near misses by mackers, Dobrowolski and a few missiles from Johnston of which one smashed off the crossbar. TTBS also had one very good chance but McCann made an excellent save down to his right to tip ball around the post. The deadlock was eventually broken in the 34th minute by Thornbury who broke through 2 tackles and then slot calmly into the corner of the goal. 1-0 to Lurgan. Now would be a great time to get a second just before the half-time whistle and with a corner given Mackers climbed highest to make amends from his earlier miss with a header from a fantastic Dobrowolski corner. 2-0 to Lurgan .
The second half saw the front three swapped out for the three forwards on the bench who were chomping to get into the game and within 6 minutes it paid off when Davison was upended in the box with resulting penalty calmly slot home by the ever impressive Trainor. With TTBS heads now dropped the lurgan midfield of Davison, Thornbury and Gorman were picking holes in the TTBS defence at will and within 3 minutes an inch perfect cross by Davison was met in centre of goal by McCann for an easy tap in. 4-0 lurgan. With game now open and over as a contest there were further goals scored by Johnston from a Mercer cross and Krol from another Davison cross. There was a further excellent opportunity to further increase the score line but Hutchinson shot soared high and wide after being given the chance when a penalty was awarded and finally a shot by Dobrowolski hitting a post
This was an excellent performance by every single player but mention also has to be given to the back 5 keeping a well deserved clean sheet
