Depleted Swifts Lose

The Swifts for second week in a row were left depleted after 2 youth team players picked up injuries in the morning. The backline consisted of two 17 year olds and three 16 year olds.

They played an experienced Laurelvale Reserves and unfortunately lost 2-0. Laurelvale took the lead from a miss-hit cross that found its way into the goal. Lewis McKinley had a half chance to equalise but his right shot was saved. H-T 0-1

Into the second half the Swifts we’re putting pressure on and Callum Watkins had 2 one on ones with the keeper but the keeper came out the winner on both occasions. Then a mixup in defence allowed Laurelvale score the second to kill the game. F-T 0-2

The game was well contested by both teams.

Despite the defeat and some errors the young team worked hard. The young lads at the back James, Tom, Krissy, Aidan and Ben played well. In midfield Simon, Daniel and Blacoe worked hard with Simon Wilson providing a couple of good attacking runs. Finally upfront Lewis, Luke and Callum didn’t get a lot of opportunities but the chances that did come will need to be more clinical.

Young Krissy Cassells probably shaded the player of the match. Next up after a free week will be Caledon.
