U15s Dominant Against Riverdale

Friday night saw Lurgan Town 07’s travelling to Dungannon for a late night kick off against Riverdale. Lurgan’s squad was almost fully fit due to the missing Balfour however, the rest were still confident after last week’s emphatic opening win.

The start of the first half was end to end stuff with both teams attacking relentlessly, the deadlock was broke on the 8th minute. This came from A McCann who won the ball back high into Riverdale’s half, finding Gorman who commits defenders before playing to Kamil delivering a great cross met by A McCann again. (1-0, 8mins). It didn’t take long for Riverdale to hit back, with a break down the left hand side followed by a finish into the far corner. A strong hand from Lurgan’s keeper M McCann was not enough. (1-1, 11mins). Minutes later Lurgan regained their lead with a great corner delivered by Kamil that was met by a towering header from Gorman. (2-1, 13mins). Once again Riverdale refused to give up and for the second time of the night equalling the score line after a long freekick met by a header from their left midfielder. (2-2, 26mins). Just before the half time mark saw Lurgan winning a freekick far out on the right hand side, Davison confidently stepped up smashing the free kick into the far corner. (3-2, 31mins).

Lurgan started the second half the stronger of the two teams with great play down the left hand side by Davison and Gorman, left Kamil one on one with the keeper before calmly lifting the ball over his head into the net. (4-2, 37mins). This seemed to wake up Riverdale who scored 5 mins later after a smooth turn in the box from their striker. (4-3, 42mins). With both teams knowing the next goal will be crucial in the match, thankfully it was Lurgan through a great corner from Davison was met by Dobrowolski and finally finished by Dillon. (5-3, 55mins). To finish the night of Davison scored another freekick from range with the power being too much for the goalkeeper who spilt the ball into the net. (6-3, 65mins).
