Lurgan Town Predators 05 entertained Banbrige Rangers Swift’s at Lurgan Town Arena. On Friday evening. This was the third match of their league cup fixtures. Lurgan were on it from kick off with Haire and Kelly causing a lot of problems down Rangers left hand side. From a corner by Liam Campbell Aidan Quinn nearly opened the scoring but couldn’t keep his header down. On 22 mins Jack Mullins had a long range effort which went high and mighty over the cross bar. Only a great last ditch tackle denied Ryanlee Brown a certain goal. Banbridge had their first real chance of the half but were denied by a flying save from Agnew. Just before half time Town deservedly opened the scoring after great work from Liam Campbell who beat his man and sent in a lovely cross to Daniel Patterson who side footed the ball into the Swift’s net.
Banbridge came out fighting at the start of the 2nd half but the Predators stood firm, with a well organised back four of Haire, Hendon, Quinn and McMahon and some great midfield work by Carson denying Banbridge any clear cut chances until the 45th minute Rangers should have scored their equaliser. The Lurgan Town back four switched off and the Banbridge centre forward put it over the bar from 3 yards out. A few mins later Town had the chance to double their lead. A great corner, again from Campbell, was flicked on from Patterson but Ben Hendon managed to put it over the bar from 3 yards. Lurgan continued with their closing and pressing right to the end and saw the game out to make a 1-0 win against a strong Banbrige Rangers Swift’s side. Great team performance tonight everyone worked their socks off and deserved the win. Next up Brookvale next weekend.
