Lurgan Town Predators travelled to Holm Park to take on Armagh City in the group stages of the league cup. Lurgan started off well playing some lovely passing football. Both defences were in top form and kept the changes to a minimum.
Town were competing well and closing down all over the pitch. With 1 min to go before the half time break town gifted Armagh the opening goal. This came from a tame shot which unfortunately went through the keepers hands.
In the 2nd half Lurgan kept up the pressure and nealy leveled the scoring with a great long range effort from Ryan Lee Brown which hit the crossbar. Predators where pushing for the equalizer and came close from a corner from Liam Campbell. With 5 mins to go Lurgan hit the crossbar again from a free kick from Campbell. In the last min Predators nearly got their deserved equaliser which came from a great cross from Toby Haire.
Unfortunately Dylan Emerson couldn’t get on the end of it. All the coaches were very proud of the the guys today. Everyone put in a really good shift playing some lovely football. The game was played in good sprits. There was not much between the two sides and with a wee bit of luck we could have came away with the draw. Next up on Wednesday night is a friendly at home to Dromora.
