Ladies Still In Hunt For Title

The Ladies Hosted Ballymena Utd Allstars on last night at the Arena. It was great to see Laura Devine & Ciara Thompson McCoy back on the pitch after their accident in the home tie a few months earlier.

The opening 20 mins seen the home side having plenty of possession, however very little came from this with shots going off target and a Claire Rooney header the closest either side came to breaking the deadlock. On 26 mins Kerry Taggart played in a precise cross from out wide which was met by Elisha Donnelly who made no mistake. 1-0 to the Ladies.

Moments later the Allstars had a great chance to punish the ladies when the away side managed to nicked the ball and squared it to be put home but the omcoming Allstar put her shot just wide. Lurgan then capitalised on some excellent play and Elisha made no mistake again when putting the Ladies 2-0 ahead.

HT 2-0

Ballymena came out of the blocks in the second half well and clearly benefited from their half time team talk. They put in a great second half performance, working extremely hard and pressing hard to get themselves back into the game.

Lurgan needed to raise their game and match every single player all over the park. The home side showed great desire and determination to hold onto their lead and only for some great goal keeping at both ends the score remained 2-0 to the Ladies. Fresh legs were introduced towards the end of the game with new signing Magdalena Stepien making her debut for the club. Good Luck to Ballymena for the rest of their season.

Many thanks to our match day sponsor @Comco Plastics. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The Ladies now look forward to a busy week in the cup competitions starting with East Belfast at the Arena on Wed 24th July before heading across the town to play Craigavon City on 26th at Drumgor 3G.
