Town Lose Out In Derby

Lurgan Town Under 14 Colts took on Portadown Youth in the Lisburn League at Moira on Saturday 27th October.

Portadown took the lead early on with a mistake by Lurgan. The Colts were very much in the game and it was a very even match with a lack of clear cut chances. Lurgan did give away possession a lot though and Portadown took their second chance to make it 2-0. 2-0 was the score at half time.

While it was quite even again in the second half and Lurgan had 4-5 long range shots they weren’t able to beat the keeper.

Portadown scored 2 more goals to make it 4-0 and were then awarded a penalty but James Harper saved well.

Lurgan battled throughout but Portadown took their chances and ended up winning 4-0. With a number of the less strong teams dropping out of the Lisburn League since last year, it’s a much tougher test most weeks – mistakes are so often punished with a goal and it’s much harder to create clear cut chances
