Colts Lose Against Strong Newry Side

Lurgan Town Under 14 Colts took on Newry City in the Lisburn League at Wallace Park on Saturday 13th October.

Newry were in the top division last year when there were 3 divisions. Now there is 1 division with some teams having dropped out of the Lisburn League and Lurgan are facing many stronger teams in the Lisburn league this year. There is a big difference from Mid Ulster level.

Newry took the lead early on with a shot from the edge of the box and made it 2-0 with a brilliant shot.

Newry added 3 more goals to make it 5-0 at half time.

Newry made it 6 at the start of the second half. Lurgan fought throughout against a stronger team and went close with a header from a corner. It was a much more even game in the second half.

James Harper made a good save at his near post but from the resulting corner Newry made it 7

Lurgan pulled a goal back when Joey McDonald played in Sam Truesdale and Sam slotted the ball home.

Lurgan worked and continued to battle and also play better in the second half which was much tighter. We go again next week.
