The Swifts took on Moira Albion Reserves on Saturday at the Arena in a league game.
The Swifts were hoping to follow up on the excellent performance against Hillsborough the previous week. However, it was all a little scrappy from the first whistle even though the Swifts were pretty much in control of the game. The final ball was consistently over hit and passes were going astray but the Swifts did open the scoring with top scorer Niall McBride scoring for the third game in a row. Scoring chances came and went for the Swifts with Niall missing out on a couple of occasions also Moira had chances but were finding Joshua Pugh in excellent form. H-T 1-0
Moira continued to get opportunities for the equaliser in the second half but there still wasn’t a way past Joshua. Lewis McKinley tried a long range effort that went wide then decided to lob the keeper from 8 yards out but it went over. The Swifts needed to get that important second and with 15 minutes left of the game substitute Scott McCammon entered the field of play. Scott played a defence splitting pass which midfield partner Tim Millen left the Moira defence trailing behind to score with a super finish. Credit to Moira as they continued to give everything in the game and were rewarded with a consolidation goal with just minutes remaining. The Swifts held on for three wins from three games. F-T 2-1
Despite Lurgan not playing fluent football they still got the job done. Well done to the young players who were playing their second game of the day with Ryan Blacoe, Simon Wilson, Lewis McKinley and Joshua Pugh having good performances but player of the match was Tim Millen.
