One Away From Glory

The U13 girls travelled to Omagh on Saturday to play Killen in a top of the table fixture.

A win for Lurgan would see them win the league or a win for Killen would see them go above Lurgan on goal difference. With a lot at stake Lurgan played with great desire and commitment which they possibly created the better opportunities. Lurgan hit the woodwork on a couple of occasions through Amy Irwin and Maeve McConaghy. The defence of Lurgan were standing strong to prevent Killen any space plus defender Chloe Stewart almost scored for Lurgan with a couple of headers that just went over. The 2 highest scoring teams in the league finished with a scoreless draw. Well done to all players for their performance.

Team: Jessica, Nicole, Chloe, Ellie B, Kaitlyn, Alex, Ellie M, Maeve, Katie and Amy

The draw now leaves the league in Lurgan’s hands as they need a draw in their last game to seal the NIGSL Premiership title. The girls will play Mid Ulster at the Arena on Friday night 8.15pm KO.
