Lurgan Town LL U13s played East Coast Strikers on Saturday morning in the league at Dromore & came away with a 1 – 0 win in a game which they dominated from start to finish.
In the 1st half Town wasted a number of great chances & really could have been out of sight by the half time break, with 3 one on ones with the keeper & 3 or 4 great saves by the man of the match the East Coast’s keeper, the Town boys were running the show & knocking the ball about at ease
With Town’s defence of Vennard, Cassells, Suchonski & Browne all having a solid game Town were always in control. The 1st half ended with the game at 0 – 0
With a few subs made & a change in formation Town were back on the front foot again. They should have broken the deadlock on 40 mins when Towe put Emerson in on goal only for his shot to crash of the underside of the cross bar & rebound out to safety. Cedit to the boys for staying positive & not giving up they were rewarded 5 mins later when MacDonald sent Stringer on a run down the right wing he cut inside & slipped neat pass into the box for Towe to run on to. He calmly beat 2 defender’s & slotted his shot into the bottom right corner to give the keeper no chance
With Town now 1 – 0 up East Coast started to put the pressure on & had a couple of long range shots. Town reshuffled the formation again & closed the game out & really should have made it 2 – 0 right at the end of the game when Orr put Murphy in on goal only for the keeper to save well down to his left. Town holding out for the 1 – 0 win.
Well done boys on a well deserved win & a solid performance after a 3 week lay off .
