Lurgan Town U13s played Portadown Youth in the Lisburn League on Saturday morning at Moira & came away with a 4-1 win keeping their 100 % record going with a 7th straight win. The game was a very tight affair for the 1st 15 mins with both teams cancelling each other out. Town nearly took the lead when a good pass from Adhamh Towe in midfield found the feet of Shea Murphy up front who played in Andrew Orr on the left of the box & his shot was turned onto the post with a fine save by the Ports keeper.
Town did take the lead on 18 mins from a Dylan Alexander corner when Shea Murphy rose highest to head home. 2 mins later it was 2-0 when Conan Moore released Dylan Alexander down the right & his pin point cross found Andrew Orr unmarked in the Ports box and he coolly volleyed into the bottom right corner of the net. 2-0 was soon 3 when Jamie Stringer played in Dylan Emerson & with good work to hold of two Ports defender’s the keeper took him down for a penalty, which Shea Murphy slotted away comfortably for his 7th goal of the season. At the break it was 3-0 to the Town boys.
The 2nd half started a bit more open & Town should have added a couple of more goals only for good saves by the Portadown keeper when he denied Adhamh Towe & Dylan Emerson but with Town looking solid at the back with Conan Moore, Krisy Cassells, Ethan Browne & captain Patryk Suchonski they were well in control. With Adhamh Towe , Jamie Stringer, Dylan Alexander & Andrew Orr running the midfield town soon added their 4th goal when Luke Vennard slipped in Jamie Stringer to beat two defender’s on the edge of the Ports box & made no mistake firing in a hard low shot into the bottom right corner of the net. With Town 4-0 up they made a few changes bring on young Tyler Bradley & Joey Mac Donald for there debuts & to be fair both boys played really well.
With 5 mins to go Portadown got a consolation goal when they caught Lurgan on the break to make it 4-1. With 2 mins left Town thought they had got their 5th goal when Jamie Stokes played in Dylan Emerson who slotted the ball away nicely only to be called offside. This was another fantastic team performance from boys as they fought for every ball today. Well done lads.
