Let Me Play

Note to Parents

We at Lurgan Town FC have a primary focus on development of all its players especially from our U7s to U12s. Those particular age groups are played as non competitive games throughout the season with the exception being the U11s and U12s playing in Cup competition or all the age groups entering end of season tournaments.

Unfortunately of late parents have become focused on results rather than looking at the bigger picture. The players don’t need the pressure of parents shouting out instructions and our volunteer coaches don’t need parents giving them a hard time because they lose a game by giving all the squad some game time to aid the players development. Let the children play with freedom and enjoyment. Children have enough pressure with school work so sport needs to be enjoyed.

We are not a win at all cost club and if any of our current parents are unhappy with that club ethos then we may not be the club for you. We have players at all different levels with some needing a little more coaching than some but this doesn’t make them less important than others.

We try our best to get so many children playing week in week out that’s why we have 3 teams at each age group. A big thank you must go to our 50 plus volunteers that give up their time to train during the week and on match-days. It’s easy to judge and criticise from outside the fence but our coaches give up a lot to coach your child. It actually costs the coach/volunteer money to travel to training and matches. We may not get everything right at the club but with 600 members it is difficult but we will keep trying to improve with the support of all those connected to Lurgan Town FC.

Yours In Sport
