The Lurgan Town U12 NIBFA Cup adventure continued with a hard fought win over Warrenpoint on Saturday in Rathfriland. In a very tight game Town came out on top with a one nil victory. It was a particularly pleasing win as Warrenpoint have been unbeaten all season.
Warrenpoint set their stall out early and looked threatening but the excellent Daniel Dillon marshalled the defence well. Town had some half chances before a ball in the Warrenpoint box was only half cleared and Bobby Harvey finished well to give Town the lead. After the break Town looked better, with some excellent counter attacking play becoming more dangerous as the half wore on. Jamie stringer had an excellent chance but he fired wide after some good play. At the other end Matthew McKee made a superb last ditch tackle to deny Warrenpoint an equaliser.
With Warrenpoint pushing for an equaliser Town had a few chances to finish the game but it ended one nil and capped a hard earned win for the boys which sees them through to the final on May Day at the Arena.
