U15s Unlucky Against Moira

under-15-mid-ulster

On a glorious Saturday morning at the Gordon Playing Fields, Lurgan Town Under 15’s entertained Moira.
Moira were the better team in the first half and deservedly went into the break one nil up. The second half started much the same way as the first with Moira on top. Lurgan then hauled themselves back into it when a freekick was awarded on the edge of the Moira box . Rileigh Jamison stepped up and hit it straight  into the keepers arms but the Referee made him retake the kick as the Moira wall had moved to early, at the second time of asking he made no mistake and it was one each.
Lurgan then ruined all their good work by gifting Moira two easy goals to put them 3-1 ahead. Then came the controversial moment of the match when after Andrew McCallion had been fouled on the edge of the box the Referee appeared to have played an advantage. McCallion was then upended in the box but the Ref brought it back for a free outside the box.
Lurgan ended the second half strongly and got a deserved second when Seb Bombka headed in at the far post from a well taken corner from Conor Lavery. Try as they may Lurgan could not find the equalizing goal in the final minutes. final score Moira 3 Lurgan Town 2.
Once again the Coaching Staff were pleased with the effort put in by all the players but a special mention goes to Peter Savage who put in a good display.
