In very cold blustery conditions Lurgan Town NL13s got off to a slow start with Bangor passing the ball well and almost getting their reward in the first 5 minutes. Bangor kept pressing with every attack and seemed to be getting alot of joy through the centre of midfield. Lurgan needed to tighten up in this area so Harry Norton was dropped back into more of a holding roll along with Josh Moles and the introduction of Callum McShane Lurgan settled very quickly and started to play some of the football we had been seeing of the past 6 weeks.
The pace of Isaac and Joel started causing the Bangor defence alot of problems but we went in at half time 0-0.
The boys still needed to lift their game and started well in the second half and Isaac, who was now on the right, was making driving runs at every opportunity. He then got his reward when he was too quick for the Bangor left back and he tripped him in the box. Isaac stepped up and struck the penalty really well into the bottom right hand corner. 1-0.
With that goal we hoped Lurgan would kick on and finish the game off but Bangor had other ideas and pressed hard and within 5 minutes got a free kick on the right. The ball was driven in and Liam the Lurgan keeper rose high to take it under pressure then collided with 2 Bangor forwards and the ball broke free and was poked in..goal still stood.
Both teams pushed hard for the victory but in the end a draw was a fair result. Thats 6 unbeaten in league and cup for the U13s NL side who continue to grow from strength to strength. Keep it going boys #heartonthesleeve.
