The first team hosted Broomhedge on Saturday and put in a solid performance that secured three points.
In truth it was a game that Town controlled despite really never getting out of second gear, with Broomhedge proving a stubborn opposition and a difficult unit to break down.
Town started the game well and had a string of corners which they couldn’t convert, with Hamilton going closet with a header that glanced the post. The game then went into a lull with Broomhedge frustrating Town with some good defending to cut out any of Town’s advances. Town did get fortunate and grabbed the lead close to half time when there was a mix-up in the Broomhedge defence that say the keepers clearance blocked by his own defender to leave Bill Morrow the simplest of jobs tapping in.
The second half was much of the same with Town having the majority of the play and when Broomhedge did have a few corners the Town defence and keeper Dickson were resolute in their duties. Town grabbed the second which effectively sealed the game when a free kick caused trouble in the box, and John Guy was on hand to score his first of the season. Town capped the performance with a 3rd soon after, neat play on the right from Parks, Greenaway and Gray saw Gray slot a nice ball to Morrow who took a touch to control and struck from the edge of the box to score his second of the day.
Town’s final game of 2016 will be at home this Saturday to Tullyvallen
