Lurgan Town U14 hosted Derry Colts on Saturday at the Arena in an entertaining game which eventually finished 1-1. Town started brightly and were ahead after ten minutes. A foul on the edge of the box led to a free kick which Ross Hawthorne despatched well. Shortly after Niall Dummigan was upended in the box amazingly no penalty was given.
Derry equalised from their free kick, quickly taken giving Niall Crilly no chance. The game ebbed and flowed both sides creating chances. At one end Michael McConville made a great goal line clearance, the other Jamie Gillis went close. Towns back three played well with Jamie McKeown in particular outstanding. Derry continued to go close but town finished strongly and at the end Nathan bell had a great chance to win it.
The game finished even and was probably a fair result on the day. A good performance from the boys in a tough match.
