Lurgan Town U14 National League side continued their good start to the season with a win over Ballymena at the Ballymena Showgrounds. The first half was a dull affair with neither team really going close and Town restricted to a few half chances. The referee unfortunately dictated the game with some poor decisions.
The second half burst into life shortly after half time with Town taking the initiative. Firstly Rhys Emerson won a free kick on the edge of the box and stepped up to fire it home. A few minutes after a good ball into the box by Ross Hawthorne found Daniel Greer and he kept his cool to finish past the keeper.
At this stage the game should have been out of sight. Rhys Emerson hit the bar, Daniel Greer had another good chance and Ben Elliott had a goal wrongly chalked off for a foul on the keeper even though he hadn’t full control of the ball. Ballymena pulled a goal back after a Lurgan mistake but they boys held on for a decent win.
