Lurgan Town Mid Ulster under 15’s played Portadown Youth on Saturday morning at the Gordon Playing Fields and they ran out 6-2 winners; but for a while they made hard work of it. Lurgan started the brighter of the two teams and with Alex Archer and Adam Bonis playing well in midfield they soon found themselves two goals up. Alex Archer scored the first although it took a slight deflection and after some really strong battling with the Portadown centre half, Rileigh Jamison scored his 9th goal season and Town’s second in the game.
Lurgan soon found that two goal lead halved when Portadown were awarded a penalty after a mistimed tackle by Zack McAtamney. Lurgan themselves were then awarded a penalty after man of the match Matthew Clarke was upended in the box. Clarke took the spot kick himself but dragged it just wide of the post. So it was 2-1 to the Lurgan side at the break.
The second half had barely started when for the second time in eight days Lurgan let a two goal lead slip again. Portadown were spurred on by this and started to create a few more chances. Lurgan then made several changes and it was one of these changes that eventually helped Town win the match. Sebastian Bombka came on and scored two great goals in what was probably his best game this season so far. Two other well taken goals by the industrious Conor Lavery made the final score Lurgan Town 6 v Portadown 2.
