Lurgan Town U14 continued their good start to the season with a good win over Ballinamallard. Town started well and dominated the early exchanges and deservedly took the lead. When the ball was cleared from the defence it fell to Rhys Emerson and his first time strike found the top corner of the Ballinamallard goal. Ballinamallard responded and equalised after some static play in the defence. Town, though sluggish, were creating the chances and took the lead after Daniel Greer found himself in the box to score.
After the restart Ballinamallard equalised again after some sluggish play. To be fair to the boys they responded well and after Rhys Emerson was pulled in the box Ross Hawthorne slammed the resulting penalty. Town continued to push and had great chances Jamie Gillis and Nathan Bell going close. The match eventually ended as a contest when Nathan Bell played in Rhys Emerson and he kept his cool to finish well. A battling performance from Town but a good win to seal a good start to the season.
