The U17s went into the game against Wakehurst on Saturday hoping to pick up a second win of the season. However it wasn’t to be as the team lost 1-0.
Lurgan never got going in the first half of the game and for the majority they were second best to a good Wakehurst team. There was a lack of desire and belief from the team therefore Wakehurst piled on the pressure but Lurgan somehow kept it scoreless at half time. Lurgan probably had the best chance of the half when Tyler Boyce just narrowly headed wide.
After a few stern half time words the Lurgan players came out in the second half with more positivity and took control of the game with good attacking play. There were a number of half chances being created but unfortunately Lurgan didn’t get on the score sheet. It was Wakehurst that scored the only goal of the game during the period of dominance from Lurgan. The goal was a set back but credit to Lurgan they give everything to get an equaliser with Ross McMorris trying a few long range efforts and Tim Millen almost scoring from a cross come shot.
Overall it wasn’t the best of team performances but a few individuals performed well with Sammy Davidson and Jack Evans having a good first half also Tim Millen and Jonny Russell playing well in the second however the player of the game went to Ross McMorris.
