This Wednesday 24th Lurgan Town Ladies play their final league game in their first competitive season in women’s football. Having secured the league title two weeks ago it’s fitting that the girls will lift the South 2 trophy at The Arena after the match with Banbridge Town.
Manager Davy Welshman “To say we are all looking forward to the last league game of the season is an understatement. When we started pre-season on the first Sunday in January this was our ultimate goal. On that first Sunday a number of the girls who came and stayed shared the vision myself, Davy Hodgen and the committee had which was to be successful and establish the women’s game at Lurgan Town. A number of the girls have been in football for a number of years yet this Wednesday will see more than half of the squad lift their first ever trophy and winners medal. Davy and myself will forever be grateful that they took the chance to join us and start this journey which has also taken us to two cup finals. I think it’s fitting that the trophy is presented at The Arena as from day one we have settled into our home and been made feel part of the family by all at the club so our night is their night and we hope to have many more nights like this in the coming seasons”.
We would ask anyone associated with the club to come and enjoy the celebrations as the ladies receive the South 2 league title kick off is at 8 o’clock.
