Town Go Top

Match night four saw Kilmore Rec ladies make the journey from Crossgar to The Arena to face the ladies.. Like Lurgan, Kilmore are a new side into the league this year but unlike Lurgan who have a squad of girls who have played in the women’s league before this is the first experience of senior women’s football  for this young side… With the oldest player being 15 they would always be up against it as Lurgan where chasing a win which would take them to the top of the league for the first time.. Kerry Taggart scored five on the night and was awarded the player of the match by the away team, her strike partner Dani Creaney also scored a hat trick.. Most celebrated goal of the night went to the very popular Caz Laird as she opened the scoring for the ladies on 11mins… Dede Brady also scored her first goal for Lurgan… Manager Davy Welshman said ” The girls knew tonight a win would take them top and they where very determined from the start to win the game.. I have to pay tribute to a young Kilmore side they never let their heads drop and kept going to the end and hopefully as they progress in the league they will have better nights..  Special mention as well to Caz Laird who opened the scoring tonight, Caz has been working really hard since she signed for the club and I think everyone was delighted when she scored tonight”
