Girls Win Opener

The clubs U15 girls played their first 9 aside league game of the season against Ambassadors Blues on Friday night.

Captain Ellie

The girls got of to a quick start when Captain Ellie McBride scored after 5 mins with a super finish. A second goal soon followed (8 mins) when Tilly Douglas U13 player made a step up to the U15s to score her first goal. Lurgan’s backline of Nicole Owens, Kaitlyn Irwin and Ellie Beattie were comfortable in possession. On the 15th minute Grace Mackay another U13 player showed excellent awareness to setup up Amy Irwin to score.

Tilly

Goals 4 (20 mins) and 5 (45 mins) for Lurgan were the best individual goals of the game. The 4th was a stunning finish from Ellie McBride high into the net from approx 15 yards. Amy Irwin then scored her second in the game after dribbling past two players then scoring with a great strike. Katie Gilmore was having a great second half and on another night she could have scored 3 but shots were blocked or just went wide. F-T 5-0

Credit to Ambassadors as they kept pushing for a goal and improved throughout the game. Jessica Pugh dealt with any attacks from the visitors. Lurgan give debuts to Sophie Devlin and Rebecca Black and they performed well. Lurgan’s standout players were Ellie McBride and Tilly Douglas.
