Lurgan Town U15 Mid Ulster Team took on Castlecaufield Youth at White CIty 3G Dungannon on Saturday 7th September for their first league game of the season.
Lurgan came out of the blocks very quickly and dominated the first 20 mins but did not work the keeper. On the 26th min Castlecaufield Youth got a very soft free kick just outside the box and the Castlecaufield player got it up and down over the wall which went past the Lurgan Town keeper to make 1-0. But it did not take long for the equaliser and what a goal it was.
Ryan lee Brown picked up the ball 2O yards out and drove a unstoppable shot high into the net. Nothing more than Lurgan deserved.
Town picked up where they left off in the second half and got their second. Good work down the left hand side from Liam Campbell put a first time cross and Ritchie finished well from close range. Bad communication from the Town defender and keeper give Castlecaufield a lifeline and they made no mistake to make it 2-2. Town never stopped playing good football and again took back the lead. James Green player a lovely through ball to Ritchie who steadied him self and slotted the ball past the Castlecaufield keeper.
It was all one way traffic from Lurgan Town and they got their 4th goal this came from a indirect free kick from a back pass. Jack Mullins slipped a short pass to Brown who drove an unstoppable shot high into the roof of the net. Mins later Liam Campbell should have made It 5-2 but the keeper made a great save. Both Brown and Ritchie missed great opportunities to get there first Hat Trick of the season. In the dying mins Jack Mullins came close with a 25 shot which hit the crossbar.
Great start to the new season everyone put in a great shift and played some lovely football. Up next for Lurgan Town U15 is another trip to Dungannon to face Dungannon Youth.
