Lurgan Town U19s opponents this week were Lurgan BBOB. Lurgan Town began strongly with some nice flowing football although LBBOB were edging the midfield battle. Lurgan were the first to score with some nice play down the right between Niall McBride and Alex Wheelan who crossed it low across goal. LBBOB’s keeper clasped at it and Fionon Dunbar was there to bundle the ball across the line. Shortly after Fionon got his second with again an attack down the right driven across goal and Fionon side footed in at the far post.
Lurgan were constantly applying the pressure but LBBOB front man was giving our defenders a headache. Lurgan’s third followed from a corner. Lewis drove the ball across it hit Niall on the back and came off a defender into the net.
Lurgan had a penalty awarded after Niall McBride was fouled in the box. The same player stepped up to take it and he ballooned it over the bar. An opportunity missed. LBBOB pulled one back before half time with their main threat playing off the shoulder of the last defender and nicking it before the keeper could clear. Substitutions were made at half time and from then Lurgan took total control.
Most of the play came down the left with Ryan Blacoe and Niall with Alex Woods running between the lines. From this Lurgan’s fourth came when Woods slipped Niall through and he slotted the ball home from six yards. Lurgan had more chances to score with Jack Evans making the keeper save with his feet, Simon Wilson smashing the crossbar and Woods narrowly missing with a volley just over the crossbar. Lurgan were awarded another penalty and missed it again, this time Woods shooting over the bar. Niall snatched his second with minutes to go making a score line of Lurgan Town 5-1 Lurgan BBOB.
