Colts Draw With Strikers

Lurgan Town Under 14 Colts took on East Coast Strikers in the Lisburn League at Barbour Playing Fields on Saturday 26th January. Lurgan started very brightly and forced a number of corners early on. At the other end, Ben Cartmill made a good save palming the ball away from danger. Lurgan were very much the better team in the first half. It was 0-0 at half time.

Lurgan were again very much the better team in the second half but just couldn’t get that elusive goal and the game finished 0-0.

It was a fantastic performance by the Colts. Two of the star performers this year have been Adam Banks who has performed brilliantly since moving into the centre of defence and Jack Mullins who has done very well in the centre of midfield – great energy and tackling.

Today the whole defence did well to keep a clean sheet against a team ffifth in the league. Jake Byers in particular made a number of key tackles to keep East Coast Strikers at bay when they did threaten. Liam Campbell was very dangerous and made a lot of good runs on the left wing and Daniel Graham had a strong game in midfield.

Overall the team worked hard as ever, often passed the ball very well and a win would have been well deserved against one of the strongest teams in the league. Today’s performance gives everyone a lot of encouragement for the weeks ahead.
