Lurgan Town U13s started their game against Moneyslane the better with great passing and movement and Pedar Mallon who was up for the match had the defence all over the place. They couldn’t cope with his pace. Town had 3 good chances in the first 5 minutes but failed to convert. Thankfully this didn’t come back to haunt the lads.
Town took the lead when David Ward converted a lovely cross to make it 1-0. The second goal was a goal of chance. Joel Adamson’s goal ward shot was deflected into the net by the defender. David Ward got his 2nd goal minutes later. Andrew Matthews created a chance out of nothing and got a goal for himself. The only sour note of the 1st half was the 2 footed lunge by the Moneyslane midfielder only for the ref to give a yellow card.
Town again started the second half on the front foot and a few minutes in Callum Emerson scored from a 20 yard free kick, straight into the top corner. Moneyslane applied a few minutes of pressure and got rewarded with a goal. Town had a man sent off for a last man foul but this only spurred Town on for the last 15 minutes. Mahmoud Shheideh scored and Oisin Kenndy rounded off a great performance with a shot from 25 yds.
Manager Ryan Nelson said: “This is by far the best performance as a team as we tried at all times to play a passing game and everyone was getting stuck in. The team welcomed David Ward back again and he had a great game”.
A great all round team performance and Man of the match was split between Pedar Mallon and David Ward.
