Lurgan Town Under 14 Colts took on Loughgall in the Lisburn League at Ballymacoss Playing Fields on Saturday 3rd November.
Loughgall took the lead but Lurgan equalised. Joey McDonald crossed and, when the keeper spilled the ball, Jack O’Brien hit the ball home. Joey McDonald assisted for a second goal when the keeper parried his shot and Caolan Ritchie followed up to hit the rebound home.
In the second half, Jack O’Brien did a lovely turn on the edge of the box and the keeper had to turn his well placed shot round the post. Loughgall made it 2-2 when Lurgan failed to close down the Loughgall attacker and he hit a brilliant shot in off the crossbar.
Lurgan regained the lead when they got a free kick from long range and Adam Banks hit a fantastic shot high into the net. Jack Mullins later hit a good long range shot too which the keeper saved.
Ben Hendron made an excellent block to deny a Loughgall attacker 2 minutes from the end but in the last minute the referee awarded a controversial penalty to Loughgall and they scored to tie the game 3-3. Lurgan fought well and were very unlucky to lose the penalty and 2 points at the end.
