U14s Continue To Work Hard

Lurgan Town Under 14 Colts took on Warrenpoint in the Lisburn League at Ballymacoss playing fields on Saturday 15th September. Warrenpoint took the lead with a lobbed goal. Lurgan came back into the game well and Joey McDonald hit the side netting from a tight angle. Lurgan did some terrific passing on the right hand side and played some dangerous balls into the middle.  Jake Byers came close with a header from a corner cleared off the line and Caolan Ritchie also had a shot cleared off the line. Warrenpoint were hitting Lurgan on the break with a lot of pacy runs in behind the defence and scored 2 more goals to go into half time 3-0.

Warrenpoint broke away again at the start of the second half to make it 4-0. Lurgan pulled one back when Ryan Rafferty hit a lovely direct free kick high into the net. Soon after Liam Campbell crossed a fantastic ball from the right wing to the far post and Joey McDonald bundled the ball home to make it 4-2. James Green made it 4-3 for Lurgan when his header hit the post and he scored from the rebound. Warrenpoint then scored a fifth with a free kick from long range high into the net and the match ended 5-3 to Warrenpoint.

Lurgan played some terrific football going forwards in the first half without any reward and fought back really well in the second half to make it 4-3.  The group have some stuff to work on but some encouragements too from today and as usual the boys worked hard to give their best.
