Tough Game For Colts

Lurgan Town Under 14 Colts took on Tullymore in the Lisburn League at Moira playing fields on Saturday 8th September. Tullymore are a very good team who played in the first of the three U13 divisions that there were last year while our Colts won the third division. Not surprisingly, Tullymore were the much stronger team for the majority of the game.

Lurgan worked hard throughout but for the first 45-50 minutes were very much on the back foot and Tullymore scored 7 goals during that time. In the last 10-15 minutes, Lurgan played much better and got 2 goals back.

Jack O’Brien had came close earlier in the second half for Lurgan with a shot that just cleared the crossbar. Jack then hit the crossbar with an attempt from the right side of the area and when the ball dropped down Caolan Ritchie followed in to score. Soon afterwards, Daniel Graham put Adam Banks through the middle and Adam finished with a brilliant shot to the keeper’s left thst gave him no chance.

The boys had a tough match but they worked hard. Some new boys have joined the squad, there has been a change in the coaching team and the Colts will be playing some stronger teams than last year.

As a result, this season will involve transition and everyone will need to have patience and support the really good group that we have, a group that has progressed every season without fail in the past seasons. No doubt they will progess again this year too given time.
