Battling Draw In Opener

The firsts got their season off to a start when they travelled to Markethill on this afternoon. The lads knew it would be a tough game with Markethill always giving 100%. This game was no different.

The early chances fell to Markethill but Tyler Boyce was equal to any chances created. In fact it was a slack first 20 minutes from Town with Markethill dominating the play which culminated in a penalty being awarded and duly dispatched to make it 1-0 to the home side.

This kicked Town into gear and they had chances to equalise through Ziggy Gargasas, Ashley Gregg and Joel Adams but they couldn’t find that killer touch. Half time 1-0.

A big second period was called for by the management staff. And that’s exactly what they got. 4 good chances where created inside the opening 13 minutes before Henry Capper drew Town level following a Joel Adams header to set him clear.

On 70 minutes Markethill where reduced to 10 men and Town had chances to go on and win the game but they wouldn’t fall in. Man of the Match was Joel Adams who was commanding at the heart of defence.

Team: Boyce, McIvor, Bann, Adams, McNally, Wiltshire, Glenn, Gargasas, Gregg, Heaney, Capper

Next up Town travel to Lower Maze on Tuesday night. Maze went down 4-1 to Dromore Amateurs in their opening game.
