We at Lurgan Town FC recently received news that our Alpha Programme funding application for an upgrade of floodlights had been successful. The new LED lights will be energy efficient and help cut costs for the club.
Club Secretary Philip McKinley expressed his delight at the success of the application. He also expressed his thanks to Richard Rogers from Groundwork NI who manages the Alpha Programme for supporting the application as the club continues to improve the facility for all its users. The LED lights will add to the Arena facility and improve the lighting onto the large 3G Synthetic pitch.
MLA Carla Lockhart commented on the funding success for the club.
“This most recent funding award of £50,000 from Alpha is great news for Lurgan Town Football Club. The club have been growing from strength to strength and this funding award is testament to the hard work and determination of the committee who manage the premises. This grant will allow them to replace their current flood lighting columns with more efficient and effective lighting which will in turn reduce their overall electricity bill and meet European lighting standards. Floodlighting is essential for the clubs extensive football offering. The club operates evening football sessions and hosts regular sessions of mid night soccer to help engage with local young people. I would commend the club for this win and thank Alpha for helping fulfil the vision of all at Lurgan Town Football Club.”
