Lurgan Town Under 13 Colts took on Banbridge Town in the final of the League 3 Cup at Lurgan Town Arena on Wednesday 9th May 2018. This was their final match of the 2017/2018 season. Lurgan almost took the lead when Caolan Ritchie beat the keeper to a through ball but Caolan wasn’t able to finish this time. Liam Campbell then hit the far post with a well hit left foot shot. Liam was making numerous dangerous runs down the left and had a brilliant first half. Not long afterwards, he turned in the ball from a corner with his right foot to make it 1-0. Daniel Graham had a strong game in midfield especially in the first half and Lurgan thoroughly dominated the first 30 minutes but weren’t able to add to their single goal.
In the second half, Banbridge got a free kick just outside the area and they hit the ball high into the net to make the score 1-1. Banbridge then pounced on a mistake by Lurgan to take a 2-1 lead with less than 10 minutes to go. Banbridge were the stronger team in the second half but Lurgan equalised with a fantastic goal. Luke Carson flicked on a header from a through ball, Caolan Ritchie then controlled the ball very well to do a 1-2 back to Luke and Luke shot over the keeper into the far corner with a brilliant finish. Jack O’Brien played a brilliant short pass through to Liam but Liam’s shot missed the post. Banbridge capitalised on another defensive mistake to make it 3-2 just before the end of the game and Banbridge ran out winners. 2 mistakes punished with 2 goals by Banbridge.

Once again this season, the team has developed and improved further over the season. Congratulations to the boys and the coaches on another season of good progress.
