Comfortable Win For U15 Girls

IMG-20180216-WA0010.jpgLurgan Towns U15 Girls took on a much improved Camlough on Friday night. There wasn’t a lot between the teams in the first half but Lurgan were unlucky not to take a lead when Kelly Patterson and Amy Irwin had shots saved. Lurgan Town went in at half time with a one nil lead after Maeve McConaghy scored from the penalty spot.

Lurgan made 3 changes at the beginning of the second half by bringing on Nicole Owens, Blathnaid Duffy and Jessica Pugh (aka JP). Blathnaid went to centre midfield with Ellie McBride moving to the right side of midfield. Ellie scored Lurgan’s second goal after a determined run into the penalty area. Alex McIlwaine was controlling the centre midfield and along with Maeve they were influential in creating opportunities for Lurgan. Jessica Pugh normally plays in goal but got a run out as striker and scored two goals with her first being well placed past the Camlough keeper.

Lurgan saw the game out to win four nil but credit to Rebecca Wilson for a great performance in Lurgan’s goal to keep a clean sheet. Rebecca was well supported by defenders Nicole Owens, Chloe Stewart, Amy, Ellie Beattie, Kaitlyn Irwin. Striker Katie Gilmore has been growing in confidence each week and continues to show great ability on the ball.
