Town Reserves took on Markethill Reserves at the Arena.
The game was played in wet and windy conditions and it made playing football difficult for both sides. Both teams started strongly and pressed each other high up the pitch leading to a lot of long ball and scrappy battles.
In a first half low on quality Towns best chances came from set pieces and the Markethill goal lead a charmed life after several goalmouth scrambles. The deadlock was broken eventually after another set piece was poked home at the second attempt by Andrew Houston. Half time 1-0.
The second half followed the same pattern, but Town did create a few more chances with Greenaway having an effort cleared off the line, Irvine going close and McNeill having an effort well saved after his introduction.
Disaster struck for the home team with just two minutes left in the game when the ref inexplicably pointed to the spot and Markethill striker slotted home the penalty. Town paid the price for not taking their chances and Markethills sheer effort gained them a point.
A disappointing end to the game, but with half of the league campaign over the team are still unbeaten and positioned well for the run in.
