James Wright playing in nets today made a string of good saves as the team came under a lot of pressure from set pieces. The pressure paid off and Armagh equalised just before half time.
In the second half, Lurgan took the lead when the Armagh keeper came out too far and Jack O’Brien kept his head well and slotted the ball home. Unfortunately, 3 minutes from time Armagh equalised and the match then went to penalties where Armagh ran out winners.
Today’s performance was outstanding and Lurgan were very unfortunate to end up losing. It was hard to pick a man of the match when the team worked so hard and delivered such a great team performance but James Wright did really well deputising in nets and Toby Haire was fantastic in defence with endless excellent tackles.
Really well done to the team. This was a cruel result but this type of performance will end up with a win most weeks. The boys and coaches can all be very proud.
