The U17s had a morning to forget on Saturday as they performed poorly against a good Lurgan Celtic team. In the tenth minute Jack O’Neill brought down the Celtic winger in the box therefore a penalty was awarded and scored. At this stage Lurgan Town were second to every ball and their passing was wayward. The only positive from the half was that Lurgan created chances with Lewis McKinley just missing the target from 25 yards and then Aaron Winters hitting the post with a header and Jonny Russell hitting straight at the keeper from 5 yards. H-T 0-1
The second half was a way below the standard required and there was a load of defensive errors which normally don’t happen. It was another slow start to the half which Lurgan Celtic capitalised on the errors by scoring three quick goals. The only bright moment was when Lewis McKinley scored a trademark free kick his fourth of the season. Lurgan Towns morning of misery was complete by more poor defending as Lurgan Celtic scored their fifth and final goal of the game. F-T 1-5
It was a shambolic performance from the team with only Lewis McKinley and Andrew McIvor worthy of a mention. The squad now need to knuckle down and cut out the silly mistakes plus show more passion to bounce back from this defeat.
