Ladies Lift League Title In Style

Match night 12 saw Lurgan Town ladies host Banbridge Town ladies in their last game in South 2. With the title already secured and the league cup final to come next Tuesday the girls were determined to keep their unbeaten league campaign going right until the the end. The later kick off time didn’t affect the girls as they turned in another professional performance. Four goals from Trudi Harbinson, three from Kerry Taggart, two from Dani Creaney and a first goal for midfielder Caroline O’Hare saw the ladies come in 10 up half time.

The second half saw Trudi add her fifth, captain Tracy Orr smashed in a free kick from all of 30 yards and Steph Potts added number 13 as the girls ended the season on a high.

Manager Davy Welshman “Another top performance from the ladies tonight and a member of the Banbridge management commented to me that even with only 5 minutes left to go the girls were still sprinting to take throw ins etc. This sums up what we have been building all season. The commitment we have asked from the girls and their professionalism on the pitch in every game. It was great to watch Sue O’Neil from NIWFA hand over the trophy to Tracy as she had supported the club from day 1 when we announced Lurgan Town would compete in South 2. It’s been an amazing first season and with two cup finals still to come our season is certainly ending on a high. Tonight though it was great to see a big crowd down supporting the girls yet again as they finally got their hands on the league trophy”.
