Moira started the brighter of the two teams and put Lurgan under pressure in the first ten minutes or so, but Lurgan began to ease their way back into the game and indeed could have taken the lead when a decent effort by Andrew McCallion went just wide . Lurgan Midfield four of Truesdale, McCallion, P. Lavery and Bonis were now working their socks off and creating chances for the front two of Jamison and Lavery. Finally their hard work paid of when a shot from distance by Andrew McCallion sailed over the Moira keepers head and into the net.
Just as the half was coming to a close Moira were awarded a penalty. The Referee judging that Matthew Clarke had pushed a Moira player in the box. Riley Grimason guessed the right way and produced an excellent save and Lurgan went into the break one nil up. The second half saw Lurgan’s back four of Clarke, McAtamney, Morrow and Barr come under constant pressure but they stood firm and were equal to everything Moira threw at them. As Moira went searching for an equalizer chances started coming Lurgan’s way and a great effort from Conor Lavery went inches wide, the same player then doubled Lurgan Town’s lead with a neat lob over the keeper.
The final word had to go to Riley Grimason who for the second time in the match saved a penalty. The decision to award Moira a penalty seemed to have been a little harsh but the Lurgan keeper guessed right again and the rebound was safely cleared. The whole team on the day were exceptional and worked hard for each other and they fully deserved their victory.
